Essex Swingers: Meet Locals From Colchester to Basildon

Colchester has the crowd, Chelmsford and Southend have the bars, and the nearest clubs are a train ride away in London.

Colchester first, then the rest of the county

More than 400 of our members live across Essex, and more than 250 of them name Colchester as their nearest town. That is more than name Birmingham or Manchester, and it puts Colchester well clear of every other town in the county.

Basildon and Grays have more than 10 members each, Braintree more than 5, and more than 100 of the county's members are couples. Miles from London, for planning the trip:

  • Basildon, 27 miles
  • Chelmsford, 31 miles
  • Southend-on-Sea, 40 miles
  • Colchester, 50 miles

Your club night is a train ride away

No club inside Essex showed current listings when we looked on 14 October 2026, so the nearest ones are in London: see swingers in London for the full list. Le Boudoir, near Tower Bridge (E1), and OP4F in north London (N22) both had October nights listed. Le Boudoir asks guests to pre-register, and most OP4F nights run from 10pm to 3am or 4am, so check your train home before you book. If you have never been to a club, swingers clubs explains how an evening runs.

Essex lines run into Liverpool Street, for Greater Anglia and the Stansted Express, and into Fenchurch Street for c2c. Around 14,000 commuters a day make the Chelmsford to Liverpool Street run, so the line is well worn.

  • Do

    • Meet a couple in Colchester or Chelmsford for one drink before you plan anything bigger.
    • Book the club night together and fix the train home before you leave.
    • Use a VIP private group chat, which holds up to 50 people, to agree the night with the other couples.
    • Look after yourselves: the NHS website has a postcode search for sexual health clinics, and you don't have to give your real name.
  • Skip

    • Old web listings. Clubs open and close, and a name in a directory is no proof of a night.
    • The car, if you're drinking. A train into Liverpool Street or Fenchurch Street does the driving for you.
    • Any plan your partner hasn't agreed to. Limits are set before the night, not during it.
    • Rushing. One drink and a proper talk is a full first evening.

Where Essex couples meet for a first drink

In Chelmsford, the Rainsford Bar & Lounge sits inside the County Hotel on Rainsford Road. Down on the Southend seafront there is Ocean Beach, a bar and bistro with estuary views on the Eastern Esplanade, and the Roslin Beach Hotel at Thorpe Bay on Thorpe Esplanade. Its site doesn't say whether non-residents can use the bar, so ask before you book. All details are as listed on 14 October 2026.

Many Essex residents, especially in the south-west of the county, work and commute in London, so a train timetable is a familiar thing to plan around. Basildon, a new town since 1949, sits 27 miles east of central London and 10 miles west of Southend, and Colchester has the main campus of the University of Essex between the town and Wivenhoe.

Southend's pier runs 1.33 miles into the estuary and is the longest pleasure pier in the world, which makes it a fair walk before the bar. Couples hoping to bring someone along should read how to find a third first. The rest of the country is on swingers UK, and all our places are listed together.

Essex answers, straight

Is there a swingers club in Essex?

None showed current listings when we looked on 14 October 2026. The nearest clubs are in London, where Le Boudoir (E1) and OP4F (N22) list their nights on their own sites. Read those listings first, and go as a pair or with a couple you have already chatted to.

How do I get around Essex for a first meet?

By rail, mostly: lines run into Liverpool Street and Fenchurch Street, and Stratford too. By road, the A12 links Chelmsford and Colchester, 22 miles apart, the A127 runs from Romford to Southend and the M11 serves Harlow and Stansted. Stansted and Southend are the county's airports.

Will other members see where in Essex I live?

No. All other members get is a username and a nearest town. Your real name, email address and exact location stay with you, you can block anyone instantly, and our safety page explains the ratings, badges and ID checks behind every profile.
